ACMI Acquires First AMCM M 8K to Enhance US Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing
The American Center for Manufacturing & Innovation (ACMI) has partnered with EOS GmbH to advance manufacturing in the United States, acquiring multiple EOS additive manufacturing machines, including the world's first AMCM M 8K. This partnership aims to enhance domestic production, particularly in defense and aerospace sectors.
The AMCM M 8K features an 800 × 800 × 1,200 mm build volume and employs eight 1.2 kW lasers for high-precision manufacturing of components like combustion chambers and fuel tanks. The collaboration is expected to streamline development and production timelines, benefiting the American industrial base. ACMI's approach integrates commercial, governmental, and academic resources to facilitate the transition from research to qualified manufacturing within its campuses.
