Adani Power Establishes Adani Atomic Energy Limited in India's Nuclear Privatization Move
On February 11, 2026, Adani Power Limited launched Adani Atomic Energy Limited (AAEL), a subsidiary focused on nuclear power. This step marks a significant private-sector entry into India's nuclear energy market following the SHANTI Act's passage in December 2025. AAEL will generate, transmit, and distribute nuclear power, supporting India's clean energy goals amidst rising electricity demand. The nuclear sector remains heavily regulated, with expectations of over 50,000 jobs in nuclear supply chain management by 2030 as more private players enter the market.

Adani Power Limited has formed Adani Atomic Energy Limited (AAEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to the nuclear power sector, as part of India's shift towards privatization in this industry. Headquartered in Ahmedabad, AAEL launches with an authorized capital of ₹5 lakh, enabled by the SHANTI Act passed in December 2025.
The move aligns with India's goals to meet rising electricity demand and reduce carbon emissions. Currently, nuclear power generation is managed by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), which holds a total installed capacity of 8.8 GW. The entry of private utilities like Adani is expected to enhance infrastructure development and create over 50,000 skilled jobs by 2030.
