AEM Secures £16M for Development of Rare Earth-Free Electric Motors
Advanced Electric Machines Group (AEM) has raised £16 million to enhance its electric motor technology, focusing on high-torque applications. This funding aims to reduce reliance on rare earth materials, addressing supply chain concerns while promoting competitive performance and sustainability in electric propulsion.

AEM has secured £16 million in funding to develop its high-torque motor platform and expand its product offerings. This investment, led by Barclays Climate Ventures and supported by Innovate UK, will enhance production capabilities at AEM's facility in Washington, UK.
The innovation replaces traditional copper windings with aluminum, eliminating dependence on rare earth materials. AEM's motors cater to primary and secondary drive applications, providing manufacturers with more resilient supply chains. This funding positions AEM to meet rising demands in commercial vehicle and industrial sectors, reinforcing its role in electrification efforts.
