Aerospace Company Pursues Project Autobahn at Melbourne Airport's New Site
A major aerospace-defense corporation is targeting Melbourne Orlando International Airport for Project Autobahn, with lease options approved for a 176-acre site. The project, which began in October 2023, has moved from previous locations to a more suitable area. The Melbourne Airport Authority has authorized lease options totaling $926,882 per year. Separately, Embraer announced plans to invest over $500 million in a facility for the KC-390 Millennium tanker aircraft, pending a sufficient order from the U.S. Air Force.

The Melbourne Airport Authority approved two three-year lease options totaling $926,882 per year.
Airport executive director Greg Donovan emphasized the project's significance amid competition with other U.S. sites. Separately, Embraer and Northrop Grumman announced a collaboration to develop the KC-390 Millennium tanker aircraft, with Embraer poised to invest over $500 million in a facility in the U.S. pending sufficient orders.
