AES Indiana's 250-MW solar and 180-MWh storage Petersburg Energy Center is now operational near the Petersburg Generating Station, a 2-GW coal-fired plant transitioning to natural gas. The new facility replaces two coal units from the 1960s, with the remaining units to be converted to natural gas.
AES Indiana has committed $1.1 billion in local investments. The project qualifies as an Energy Community, increasing tax credits from 26% to 40%, promoting further development in Pike County, where AES Indiana is the largest employer.
