AG Brown Joins Coalition Against DoD Wind Energy Project Review Freeze
Attorney General Nick Brown has intervened in a lawsuit with 18 other attorneys general, challenging the Department of Defense's (DoD) freeze on reviews of land-based wind energy projects. This intervention aims to resume the federal review process, which is crucial for advancing over $2 billion in investments and thousands of jobs in Washington state.

A coalition of 19 attorneys general, led by Washington AG Nick Brown, is intervening in a lawsuit against the Department of Defense (DoD) for halting reviews of wind energy projects. The DoD's freeze, initiated in August 2025, is blocking the advancement of multiple projects in Washington, including the 450-megawatt Crider Valley Wind Energy Project and others totaling nearly 2,000 megawatts.
This situation jeopardizes over $2 billion in private investment and 4,500 jobs. The coalition argues that the freeze violates the Administrative Procedure Act and disrupts developers and states, undermining national security and renewable energy development. They seek a court order to compel the DoD to resume its review process.
