Air Force Establishes 562nd Electronic Warfare Squadron at Nellis AFB for Combat Training Support

The Air Force plans to establish the 562nd Electronic Warfare Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, to support airmen in contested electronic environments. This unit, part of the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing, will streamline electromagnetic spectrum operations at the Air Force Warfare Center.

The squadron is expected to be operational by summer 2026, with several dozen airmen assigned and full capacity aimed for by 2028. The 562nd will enhance training that incorporates electronic warfare concepts and tactics.

The Air Force's focus on electronic warfare has intensified since 2021, with the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing, activated in June 2021, growing to include about a dozen squadrons focused on various aspects of electromagnetic operations. The integration of electronic warfare capabilities has become critical as the military adapts to modern warfare dynamics.
