Air Force One Returns to Andrews After Electrical Issue Before Davos Trip
Air Force One, carrying President Trump to the World Economic Forum in Davos, returned to Joint Base Andrews due to a minor electrical issue causing a blackout in the press cabin. Traveling with Trump were several administration officials.
The plane, a Boeing 747-200B, was expected to land in Zurich. Trump has criticized the current Air Force One, built in the 1990s, and discussed accepting a $400 million Qatari jet as a replacement, which requires retrofitting.
The delivery of new Air Force One planes from Boeing has faced delays, with costs rising to $5.3 billion and expected delivery pushed to 2029. Following the incident, Trump and his team were transferred to two smaller planes for the journey. Trump's first scheduled event in Davos was set for 2:10 PM local time.
