Air National Guard Secures $33M for Ku/Ka Communication Suite to Enhance Rescue Operations

DEFENSE

The Air National Guard has secured $33 million from the federal government for the Ku/Ka Communication Suite, a satellite-based communications system intended to enhance mission response and coordination in both domestic and deployment settings. The system will first be integrated on the HC-130J Combat King II aircraft.

Funding was awarded via the Department of Defense's Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies program, marking the National Guard Bureau's first submission. This initiative, led by the NGB Innovation Team with partners such as ARCWERX, aims to improve the speed of personnel recovery and communication capabilities in emergencies, especially in remote areas. The project is expected to serve as a model for future technology adoption within the military.
