Alabama Launches Economic Development Office in Korea with Initial Visit
Representatives from Alabama's economic development office in South Korea visited Alabama to initiate their new assignment. Established in October, the Alabama Department of Commerce's office aims to strengthen business ties in South Korea and Japan.
The visit included stops in Mobile, Montgomery, Opelika, and Chambers County to tour key sites such as the Port of Mobile and Hyundai's assembly plant. The representatives aim to familiarize themselves with Alabama's business assets and explore potential investments from Korean companies.
Alabama has attracted significant Korean investment, particularly in the automotive sector, and seeks to diversify its Korean investment portfolio in areas like defense tech, shipbuilding, and biotech. The team will primarily operate from Seoul, focusing on cultivating investment opportunities and supporting trade development efforts.
