Albania Approves CWP Europe for 600 MW Wind Project in Tropoja
Albania has approved CWP Europe's 600 MW wind power project in Tropoja, aimed at diversifying the country's energy sources beyond its heavy reliance on hydropower. The EUR 1.2 billion investment will cover 385 hectares and is expected to connect to the grid within 12 months. CWP Europe, which has a total of 1.5 GW of wind and solar projects under development in the country, also recently partnered with GE Vernova for a hybrid project valued at over EUR 1 billion.

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku announced CWP Europe's 600 MW wind power project, Tropoja, which is expected to connect to the grid within 12 months. This project aims to diversify Albania's energy sources, which have been almost entirely reliant on hydropower.
CWP Europe has 900 MW of wind projects in Albania and over 7 GW across Southeast Europe. The Tropoja investment is valued at EUR 1.2 billion and will cover 385 hectares across several villages. In October 2023, CWP agreed with GE Vernova to develop a hybrid wind and solar project in Albania, estimated at over EUR 1 billion. Currently, wind and solar projects totaling 1.5 GW are under development in the country.
