With a background in crop research and commercial agronomy, Farrington's initial focus will involve assessing existing genetic materials and determining their geographic suitability for cultivation.
He aims to optimize production systems to meet the demands of various end markets, particularly in sustainable aviation fuel and biodegradable materials. In the first six months, he will concentrate on understanding Miscanthus biology and performance across different environments, which will support the development of effective planting and production systems.
