Aligned Data Centers Proposes 'Project Phoenix' Campus Near Bruce Mansfield Power Plant in Shippingport
Aligned Data Centers has proposed a new campus named 'Project Phoenix' in Shippingport, Beaver County, adjacent to the old Bruce Mansfield power plant. The Shippingport Council has approved zoning modifications, but the project still requires permits and a hearing regarding noise limits for 24/7 construction. The facility aims to generate numerous jobs and will initially be powered by natural gas generators. Frontier Group is investing $3.2 billion to convert the old plant to natural gas, which could eventually supply the data centers with electricity.

Aligned Data Centers has proposed a new campus, 'Project Phoenix', in Shippingport, Beaver County, next to the decommissioned Bruce Mansfield coal power plant. The Shippingport Council has granted zoning modifications, but the project must still meet noise limit regulations and obtain building permits.
If successful, it could become one of the largest data centers in Southwestern Pennsylvania, generating high-quality jobs. Frontier Group is investing up to $3.2 billion to convert the plant to natural gas, which may later supply power to the data centers.
Initial power will come from separate natural gas generators. Community response has been minimal, with only four residents attending a recent meeting.
