Alpha Generation Secures 10-Year Power Supply Deal with SMECO

Alpha Generation has finalized a decade-long power supply agreement with Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO), ensuring the delivery of 500 megawatts of capacity and 400 megawatts of energy from the Keys Energy Center in Brandywine, Maryland. This arrangement aims to stabilize costs for SMECO while securing consistent revenue for AlphaGen.
The Keys Energy Center, a natural gas-fired facility, is crucial for maintaining grid reliability in the PJM region, highlighting the importance of flexible generation in today's energy landscape. The agreement reflects a trend toward long-term contracts as energy providers seek to balance cost and reliability amidst market fluctuations.
