Alta Ares Develops AI-Powered Interceptor Drones for Ukraine's Defense Needs
Alta Ares, a French startup established in Ukraine, has developed an AI-powered interception system called Pixel-Loc, which has improved success rates against loitering munitions from 30% to 60%. The company plans to produce 1,000 interceptor drones monthly and aims to generate €20 million in revenue by 2026, following recognition with a NATO award. With Ukraine's projected need for 20,000 interceptor drones, Alta Ares is also working on its own models, including the high-speed X-Lock.

Alta Ares, a French startup founded in Ukraine two years ago, has developed an AI-powered software called Pixel-Loc for intercepting loitering munitions like Shahed drones. The system, which automates interception, has increased success rates from 30% to approximately 60%.
A ground radar detects targets and directs interceptor drones, which are operated by a team comprising a remote pilot, navigator, and data transmitter. Alta Ares gained recognition after winning a NATO award in Poland on December 16, 2024.
The company plans to produce 1,000 interceptor drones monthly and generate €20 million in revenue by 2026. They have raised €2.5 million in six months and are developing their own interceptor drone, the X-Lock, alongside the Blackbird, which will fly at over 670 km/h. Currently, it is estimated that Ukraine will require 20,000 interceptor drones.
