Amazon Expands Louisiana Operations to 13 Locations, Employing Over 10,000 Workers
Since opening its first fulfillment center in Louisiana in late 2021, Amazon has expanded to 13 locations across the state. Its operations now employ over 10,000 people, with significant facilities in Carencro, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. The Baton Rouge center, a $200 million investment, can process up to 300,000 packages daily during peak times. Amazon's growth has also spurred local economic activity, with nearly 200 new businesses emerging around its facilities from 2021 to 2024.

Amazon has expanded its presence in Louisiana, now operating 13 locations and employing over 10,000 workers since opening its first fulfillment center in late 2021. Key facilities include a 3.4 million-square-foot center in Baton Rouge and a 2.5 million-square-foot flagship center in Shreveport, which integrates AI and robotics.
Amazon's logistics operations in the region surpass those of UPS and FedEx, with projections to exceed the U.S. Postal Service by 2028. The company's expansion has also stimulated local economies, spawning nearly 200 new businesses and generating significant tax revenue.
