Catalonia is targeting the defense sector, spurred by a global increase in military spending projected to reach €800 billion by 2030 under the 'Rearm Europe' initiative. Over a hundred automotive companies are exploring projects in defense, leveraging technologies like sensors and robotics that are already prevalent in their field.

The consulting firm Dualys, founded by former officials, aims to facilitate this transition. Experts emphasize that the knowledge accumulated in manufacturing for heavy vehicles can be adapted for defense needs.

However, a significant challenge remains the industry's overall lack of familiarity with defense operations. The collaboration with Airbus for military training highlights the potential for cross-sector expertise to enhance defense capabilities.
