Amazon Launches Solar Project in Mumbai's Powai for Community Development
Amazon's new solar initiative in Powai, Mumbai, includes 50 solar streetlights and solar panels for 17 schools. This project aims to enhance community safety and reduce carbon footprints in local educational institutions.

Amazon has launched a community solar energy project in Powai, Mumbai, featuring 50 solar streetlights and on-grid solar panels in 17 municipal schools. The initiative, in collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Nirmiti Foundation, and Green India Initiative, aims to benefit over 6,200 individuals, including students and community members.
The solar streetlights will serve three underserved communities, improving safety for more than 1,200 residents. Additionally, the 75 kW solar panels will assist over 5,000 stakeholders in local schools, promoting sustainability. This project aligns with Amazon's $12.7 billion investment commitment in India's cloud infrastructure by 2030, emphasizing its broader environmental goals.
