Ambler Metals Seeks Clean Water Act Permit for Alaskan Copper Mine Development
Ambler Metals has applied for a Clean Water Act permit to develop a copper mine in northwestern Alaska, linked to the proposed Ambler Road. The project remains contentious due to regulatory and legal challenges under the Biden administration.

Ambler Metals has submitted a Section 404 permit application with the Army Corps of Engineers to develop a copper mine in the Ambler mining district of northwestern Alaska. This initiative is associated with the controversial 211-mile Ambler Road project, which aims to connect the mining area to a major highway.
Following President Trump’s support for the road's construction, the Biden administration has blocked the project and it faces ongoing legal challenges. The involvement of the Trump administration in potential investments and equity stakes for mining companies raises concerns regarding conflicts of interest in regulatory oversight.
