AMD Discusses Regulatory Challenges with South Africa's NCACC Meeting Scheduled for March 6
The Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Industries Association (AMD) will meet with South Africa's National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC) on March 6 to address regulatory dysfunction in the conventional arms control environment. AMD emphasized that the delays in permit processing, which can take about three months for each stage, threaten the industry's competitiveness and could lead to a 40% reduction in the workforce.
The AMD has lost opportunities worth $8 billion due to these regulatory issues. The committee aims to ensure South Africa meets its international obligations while maintaining an efficient administrative system. The AMD calls for reforms to improve the regulatory environment and sustain the domestic defense industry.
