Amicrobe Advances Amicidin-α PFC for Military Use with $3.99 Million DoD Support
Amicrobe, Inc. has selected a clinical formulation for Amicidin-α PFC, supported by a $3.99 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense. This formulation aims to prevent life-threatening infections in injured soldiers during prolonged field care.

Amicrobe, Inc. has chosen a leading clinical formulation for Amicidin-α PFC, which is designed to provide care for injured soldiers in the field. The formulation, a dry powder, prevents infections from traumatic wounds for up to 72 hours by forming a gel upon contact with fluids.
This initiative is backed by a $3.99 million award from the U.S. Department of Defense, granted in August 2021 for development through Phase I/IIa clinical studies. The project is part of a collaboration involving the US Army Medical Research and Development Command's Military Infectious Diseases Research Program and the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium. The successful implementation of Amicidin-α PFC could significantly reduce infection rates in military settings, enhancing soldier safety.
