Amit Kashyap has been appointed as a Member of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Appellate Tribunal for Himachal Pradesh for a four-year term. This appointment was approved by the central government and follows an interview by a selection committee led by the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Kashyap, who retired from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in December 2023, has held various significant positions, including Director of Industries and Tourism, as well as Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. He also served as a commissioned officer in the Indian Army. His contributions, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, have been recognized for their impact on the community.
