AMP to Open AI-Powered Recycling Facility in Commerce City, Colorado
AMP plans to launch an AI-driven recycling facility in Commerce City, Colorado, focusing on efficient waste sorting using air jets. This facility will not employ robotic arms, instead utilizing optical-sorting systems to enhance recovery rates of materials. The technology aims to meet increased demand for recycling driven by a new state law. Waste Connections will own the facility, which is designed to operate with minimal human involvement, improving safety and efficiency.

AMP is set to open a fully automated recycling facility in Commerce City, Colorado, leveraging AI-powered systems for efficient waste sorting. Unlike traditional methods utilizing robotic arms, this facility will employ air jets to sort materials at speeds of up to 2,000 items per minute.
The project is owned by Waste Connections and aims to address increasing recycling demands following a new state law. AMP's existing AI facility in Ohio currently diverts 90% of waste from landfills, compared to 75% at less automated sites. The initiative focuses on improving safety and operational efficiency while potentially making recycled materials more cost-effective for manufacturers.
