Andrej Babiš Supports Continuation of F-35 Fighter Jet Purchase Project
Andrej Babiš, leader of the ANO party, affirmed the necessity of continuing the F-35 fighter jet purchase project after visiting the Čáslav air base, while expressing a desire to renegotiate contract terms. President Petr Pavel endorsed the acquisition, highlighting that 18 NATO countries plan to procure the jets, which are essential for the alliance's air defense.
Pavel cautioned that reversing the decision could result in the forfeiture of already paid funds, including advance payments. He also indicated that the military needs to tackle personnel shortages, potentially by enhancing reserves or providing state-supported training for volunteers in critical specializations.
