Application Submitted for Eco-Friendly Replacement Building at Holehird Gardens
Holehird Gardens in the Lake District has submitted a proposal for a new eco-friendly building to replace an existing structure. The current building, constructed in 1982, is deteriorating and lacks adequate thermal properties and structural integrity for planned photovoltaic panels.

An application for Listed Building Consent has been submitted for Holehird Gardens, aiming to replace a dilapidated structure within the kitchen garden walls with an eco-friendly building. The proposal includes features such as low-maintenance materials, underfloor heating powered by an air-source heat pump, and a mechanical ventilation system.
The existing building's roof is not structurally sound enough to support photovoltaic panels, essential for energy efficiency improvements planned by the Lakeland Horticultural Society. The application, registered on April 7, is pending a decision from the Lake District National Park Authority. The removal of a dying Tibetan Cherry tree is also included in the plans, facilitating the new construction.
