Arabelle Solutions to Supply Turbines for Poland's Choczewo Nuclear Power Plant
Arabelle Solutions, a subsidiary of EDF, has been chosen by Bechtel and Westinghouse to supply half-speed Arabelle steam turbines and generator sets for three AP1000 units at Poland's Choczewo nuclear power plant. The project, which includes critical auxiliary systems and a sophisticated turbine generator shaftline, is set to begin fabrication following the finalization of the EPC agreement, with commercial operations anticipated by 2033. The total investment for the project is estimated at EUR42 billion (USD47 billion).

Arabelle Solutions, an EDF subsidiary, has been selected by Bechtel and Westinghouse to provide half-speed Arabelle steam turbines and generator sets for three AP1000 units at Poland's Choczewo nuclear power plant. The supply includes the steam turbine, generator, auxiliary systems, and key water steam cycle equipment.
The turbine generator shaftline will measure 68 meters, featuring a high/intermediate-pressure module and three low-pressure modules for improved efficiency, coupled with a hydrogen and water-cooled GIGATOP generator. The project follows a rigorous procurement process, with fabrication expected to begin after finalizing the EPC agreement.
The Polish government selected the Westinghouse AP1000 reactor technology for the site in November 2022, with plans for commercial operation by 2033. The total investment is estimated at EUR42 billion (USD47 billion).
