Argentina Acquires KC-135 Stratotankers to Support F-16 Fighter Fleet
Argentina will purchase two Boeing KC-135R Stratotankers to enhance the operational capabilities of its F-16 fighter jets. This acquisition is part of a broader modernization initiative for the Fuerza Aerea Argentina under the administration of President Javier Milei.

The Fuerza Aerea Argentina (FAA) confirmed plans to acquire two Boeing KC-135R Stratotankers to bolster its air capabilities. This decision aligns with the recent procurement of 24 Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon jets from the Royal Danish Air Force, aimed at enhancing combat range and operational effectiveness.
The KC-135 will also facilitate improved transport of personnel and cargo, supporting a mixed load capacity of up to 83,000 pounds. The deal for the Stratotankers is currently underway, following the FAA's formal request process. This strategic acquisition is expected to restore essential aerial refueling capabilities lost with the retirement of older aircraft, significantly impacting Argentina’s military aviation readiness.
