Armenia to Offer Extended Service in 'Homeland Defender' Program

DEFENSE

The Armenian government announced an extension option for servicemembers in the 'Homeland Defender' program, allowing them to add two or five years to their initial five-year term. Currently, 4,234 servicemembers are enrolled.

Additionally, mandatory military service will be reduced to 18 months starting January 1, 2026, as part of ongoing defense reforms initiated in 2021. The reforms have been implemented with input from the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
