Army Launches xTech|Inversion Competition for Commercialization of Intellectual Property
The Army FUZE xTech Program has initiated the xTech|Inversion competition, focusing on the commercialization of Army-developed intellectual property. This competition incentivizes U.S. small businesses to refine and adapt Army technologies, with a total cash prize pool of $1 million and additional SBIR proposal opportunities.

The xTech|Inversion competition by the Army FUZE xTech Program offers a cash prize pool of $1 million, targeting U.S. small businesses to develop strategies for Army intellectual property. Participants may receive up to $300,000 through Phase I Army Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) proposals after presenting their solutions.
The competition encompasses three parts, with finalists pitching their ideas at Fed Supernova in Austin, Texas in August 2026. The initiative aims to enhance the transition of Army technologies into dual-use applications.
Small businesses must be for-profit and adhere to specific eligibility criteria to participate. This approach could significantly expedite the commercialization process and foster collaboration between the Army and the private sector.
