Arsari Tambang Warns of Diesel Crisis Impacting Mining Amid Middle East Tensions
Amid ongoing geopolitical unrest in the Middle East, Arsari Tambang highlights potential diesel shortages affecting multiple metal industries, including tin, copper, aluminum, and nickel. The availability of biodiesel is seen as a critical support for mining operations in Indonesia, crucial for mitigating global pressures.
Arsari Tambang's President Director Aryo Djojohadikusumo warns that diesel shortages could severely impact mining operations, exacerbated by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. This situation affects not just the tin industry, but also copper, aluminum, and nickel sectors.
Aryo noted that countries like India, Pakistan, and various African nations are already experiencing production difficulties due to diesel scarcity. The Indonesian biodiesel program, initiated under President Joko Widodo and continued by Prabowo Subianto, is helping the mining industry cope with these challenges.
Additionally, the ongoing geopolitical unrest is expected to persist until late 2026, potentially influenced by the U.S. legislative elections. Arsari Tambang is also focusing on developing high-value products like weldstick for the semiconductor industry through a new research center in the Bangka Belitung Islands.
