DEFENSE

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will meet with Kuki militant groups on March 13 to discuss a new accord, as part of efforts to maintain peace in the region. The Kuki groups, which include the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) and others, are currently under a Suspension of Operations agreement with the government.

Sarma also announced the distribution of over Rs 131 crore to 12,976 entrepreneurs as part of the Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan 1.0 initiative. This financial aid aims to promote self-reliance and create job opportunities in Assam, which has seen its economy grow significantly in recent years. The government plans to expand support for youth entrepreneurship as the state tackles rising unemployment concerns.
