Auburn University Collaborates with Clemson and Florida on Cattle Emissions Research Project
Auburn University's Animal Science and Forages team is leading a multi-state research initiative with Clemson University and the University of Florida, focusing on livestock feeding and greenhouse gas emissions. Funded by nearly $1 million, the project aims to enhance environmental outcomes for livestock operations.
The research includes international collaboration, with team members attending the Greenhouse Gas & Animal Agriculture Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, to learn from global cattle production practices. Key goals include improving sustainability and feed efficiency while testing new feed additives to reduce methane output from grass-fed cattle. Research teams will conduct on-farm trials to measure cattle growth and performance.
