Audi is transforming its vehicle production by introducing AI-driven humanoid robotic hands in collaboration with Mimic Robotics. These new two-armed manipulators aim to perform tasks previously considered difficult to automate, like the precise application of sealing strips.

The robots learn by observing human workers, who wear special gloves to capture their movements, creating a digital archive of human precision. This Imitation Learning enables the robotic hands to adapt in real-time to variations in components, contrasting with traditional robots that follow fixed programs. This development is part of Audi's Smart-Factory strategy to deeply integrate AI and cloud-based systems into manufacturing processes.
