Australia Establishes $707 Million Advanced Capability Investment Fund for Defense Technologies

DEFENSE

Australia's Labor government will introduce the A$1 billion ($707 million) Advanced Capability Investment Fund to back advanced defense technologies. Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy will announce the fund in Canberra, which aims to attract private capital for projects in cyber, AI, and electronic warfare.

The initiative seeks to enhance the domestic defense industry and ensure more of the defense budget supports local innovation. The fund is relatively small compared to Australia's overall defense budget, and its effectiveness will depend on attracting private investment.
