In response to Severe Tropical Cyclone Maila, Australia has committed AUD1.5 million (SBD8.6 million) for humanitarian assistance to the Solomon Islands. On April 12, two Royal Australian Air Force aircraft arrived in Honiara with ADF personnel and supplies such as emergency shelters and hygiene kits.
These supplies will support the National Disaster Management Office's regional hub at Munda, established for disaster response coordination. Collaboration with local authorities ensures the aid is tailored to immediate needs. The swift response underscores Australia's ongoing commitment to supporting the Solomon Islands during crises, highlighting the importance of bilateral partnerships in disaster management.
