Australia Receives First Locally Built AS9 Howitzers from Hanwha Aerospace
Australia's Hanwha Armoured vehicle Centre of Excellence has delivered the first AS9 self-propelled howitzers, part of a contract for 30 AS9 howitzers and 15 AS10 ammunition vehicles. This marks a significant step in establishing local defense manufacturing capabilities, with plans for the first AS10 carrier to be produced later this year. The facility, completed in August 2024, aims to enhance Australia’s long-range fire support and serve as a regional production hub.

On February 26, Hanwha Aerospace delivered the first AS9 self-propelled howitzers produced at its facility in Geelong, Victoria. This delivery is part of a contract for 30 AS9 howitzers and 15 AS10 ammunition resupply vehicles, supporting Australia's defense modernization efforts.
The H-ACE facility, completed in August 2024, spans 150,000 square meters and includes various production and testing facilities. The AS9 is a modified version of the K9 howitzer tailored to Australian requirements, enhancing operational capabilities.
The AS10 vehicle will support sustained artillery operations. Hanwha plans for the facility to serve as a regional hub for Indo-Pacific defense needs.
