Australia Receives Second MC-55A Peregrine Aircraft for Indo-Pacific Surveillance Operations
The Royal Australian Air Force has received its second MC-55A Peregrine intelligence aircraft at RAAF Base Edinburgh on March 12, 2026. The aircraft, part of Project AIR 555, enhances Australia's airborne intelligence and electronic warfare capabilities, following the delivery of the first unit in January 2026. The program, valued at A$2.46 billion, involves the acquisition of four Gulfstream G550-based aircraft, which will operate alongside existing surveillance systems to support operations across the Indo-Pacific region.

The Royal Australian Air Force received its second MC-55A Peregrine aircraft at RAAF Base Edinburgh on March 12, 2026. This aircraft is part of Project AIR 555, which aims to establish a sovereign airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare capability.
The Peregrine is derived from the Gulfstream G550 and features extensive modifications for intelligence missions. A total of four aircraft are planned, with the program valued at A$2.46 billion. The aircraft will operate under No. 10 Squadron and enhance surveillance capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region, integrating with existing systems like the P-8A Poseidon and MQ-4C Triton.
