Austria Enacts Renewable Expansion Acceleration Act to Boost Energy Projects
Austria's Renewable Expansion Acceleration Act aims to simplify and expedite renewable energy project approvals. This legislative move is crucial for meeting the country's goal of increasing renewable energy generation by 30 TWh by 2030.

The Austrian Parliament has enacted the Renewable Expansion Acceleration Act (EABG), initiating a reform in energy policy focused on enhancing the development of renewable energy projects. This law simplifies approval processes and consolidates responsibilities to avoid project delays.
It targets an increase in renewable energy generation by 30 terawatt-hours (TWh) by 2030 and aims for 40 TWh by 2035. The legislation supports wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal energy, and associated infrastructure. As Austria enhances its regulatory framework, it may increase its attractiveness for energy investments, impacting future project financing and development timelines.
