AXIS Survey Reveals Diverging CEO and CISO Perspectives on AI Cyber Risks
A recent AXIS Capital survey of 500 CEOs and CISOs in the U.S. and U.K. highlights divergent views on AI's role in cybersecurity, with 29.6% of U.S. executives identifying AI-driven attacks as the top threat, compared to 20.8% in the U.K. While 85% of U.S. leaders feel prepared for AI threats, only 44% of their U.K. counterparts share this confidence; additionally, U.S. executives are more optimistic about AI's productivity benefits, despite CISOs expressing concerns over increased risks.

AXIS Capital released a survey revealing differing views of 500 CEOs and CISOs in the U.S. and U.K. on AI's impact on cybersecurity. Key findings include that 29.6% of U.S. executives see AI-driven attacks as the top cyber threat, while only 20.8% of U.K. executives agree.
Most executives plan to increase cybersecurity budgets, with 75.2% likely to reduce headcount due to AI tools. U.S. leaders are more confident in AI’s potential to enhance defenses, with 85% feeling prepared for AI threats compared to 44% in the U.K.
The survey indicates that CEOs view AI positively for productivity, while CISOs express concern over increased exposure to risks. CEOs identified data leakage as the top risk, whereas CISOs pointed to shadow AI. Overall, U.S. executives show greater optimism and readiness in leveraging AI for cybersecurity.
