Azerbaijan-Italy Economic Cooperation Commission Meets in Baku
The 6th session of the Azerbaijan-Italy Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation convened in Baku on January 13, resulting in a protocol and a 2026-2027 Action Plan with 65 initiatives focused on energy, trade, investment, and SMEs. Azerbaijan is set to supply Italy with 9.5 billion cubic meters of gas in 2025 and has invested $2.8 billion in Italy, including a 49% stake in solar power plants, while bilateral trade reached $11.2 billion from January to November 2025.

The 6th session of the Azerbaijan-Italy Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Baku on January 13, focusing on energy, trade, investment, and SMEs. The meeting resulted in a protocol and a 2026-2027 Action Plan with 65 initiatives.
Azerbaijan remains Italy's second-largest gas supplier, providing 9.5 billion cubic meters in 2025. The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan's investments in Italy have reached $2.8 billion, with $118.6 million invested in 2025.
SOFAZ acquired a 49% stake in solar power plants in Italy, enhancing Azerbaijan's renewable energy presence. The bilateral trade from January to November 2025 reached $11.2 billion, with Italy accounting for over 25% of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade.
