Babcock and Frankenburg to Develop Containerized Launcher for Affordable Anti-Drone Missiles

DEFENSE

Babcock and Frankenburg Technologies have signed a memorandum of understanding to create a containerized launch system for low-cost anti-drone missiles aimed at enhancing maritime defenses. The partnership aims to develop a new air-defense system, with engineering led from the UK, to provide a sovereign capability.

Frankenburg's missile systems are designed to be ten times cheaper and a hundred times faster to produce than current options. The Mark 1 missile, claimed to be the world's smallest guided missile, is set for mass production in Estonia with an initial capacity of 100 missiles per day.

The collaboration is intended to deliver scalable and affordable solutions to protect military personnel and critical infrastructure in Europe and opens global export opportunities. Frankenburg is also working with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa to establish local missile manufacturing capacity of up to 10,000 units per year.
