Babcock & Wilcox Selects Siemens Energy for Steam Turbine Generators in AI Data Center Power Project
Babcock & Wilcox has chosen Siemens Energy to provide steam turbine generator sets for a project that will supply one gigawatt of power to Applied Digital's AI Factory. An initial agreement has been reached, allowing B&W to secure the turbine sets with a target completion date of 2028, while the full contract is expected to be finalized in early 2026. The initiative involves the construction of four 300-megawatt natural gas-fired power plants to meet the increasing energy demands of the AI data center sector.

Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) has selected Siemens Energy to supply steam turbine generator sets for its project aimed at delivering one gigawatt of power to Applied Digital's AI Factory. An initial agreement for a limited notice to proceed has been established, allowing B&W to secure the turbine sets and target power delivery by the end of 2028.
The full contract is anticipated to be finalized in Q1 2026. The project involves designing and installing four 300-megawatt natural gas-fired power plants, utilizing a gas-fired boiler to generate steam for the turbines. This collaboration aims to efficiently meet the energy demands of the growing AI data center market.
