Baden-Württemberg Joins Germany's State Alliance for Fusion Research
Baden-Württemberg has joined Germany's State Alliance for Fusion Research, which now includes seven states, with the goal of developing a commercially viable fusion power plant by 2035, backed by €2.4 billion from the government. Key initiatives include a fusion power plant in Gundremmingen and new laser fusion hubs, each receiving €30 million for research infrastructure enhancement. The Wendelstein 7-X stellarator is scheduled to resume operations in September 2026, focusing on high heating power plasma pulses.

Baden-Württemberg has joined Germany's State Alliance for Fusion Research, now comprising seven states including Bavaria and Hamburg. The alliance aims to develop a commercially viable fusion power plant by 2035, supported by €2.4bn from the government.
Key partners include KIT and the Max Planck Institute. Upcoming projects include a fusion power plant in Gundremmingen and new laser fusion hubs, with initial funding of €30m each, to enhance research infrastructure. The Wendelstein 7-X stellarator is set to resume operations in September 2026, focusing on high heating power plasma pulses.
