Bali, NTB, and NTT Sign Cooperation MOU to Enhance Regional Development and Address Climate Challenges

SOLAR ENERGY

On November 25, 2025, governors from Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) signed a memorandum of understanding to foster regional cooperation after 67 years of individual governance. The initiative aims to create a unified economic framework focusing on tourism, transportation, renewable energy, trade, and exports.

Set to officially begin in 2026, the collaboration intends to establish the Lesser Sunda Islands as a national tourism hub while addressing climate vulnerabilities. The regions will leverage NTB’s renewable energy potential of 13,563 MW and NTT’s 388,310 MW, primarily from solar power, to transition from fossil fuels. The cooperation also includes developing a joint early warning system for natural disasters and promoting sustainable tourism and infrastructure to combat climate change impacts.
