Bangchak Reverses Fuel Limit After One Day Amid Energy Market Tensions
Bangchak implemented a daily fuel purchase limit of 700 baht for cars and 3,000 baht for larger vehicles, but reversed the policy within a day. The company aimed to prevent shortages amid rising energy market tensions due to the Middle East conflict. Bangchak imposed a fuel purchase limit of 700 baht per day for cars and 3,000 baht for larger vehicles, alongside restrictions on jerrycan refills, due to concerns over energy supply amidst Middle East tensions. However, the company lifted these restrictions within a day to restore normalcy.
Concurrently, Thailand's Energy Minister Auttapol Rerkpiboon is negotiating with Cheniere Energy to increase LNG deliveries under an existing contract from 1 million to 1.3 million tons annually, aiming for earlier shipments to mitigate supply risks. The government is also seeking additional reserves from non-Middle Eastern sources.
