Bangkok University Team Wins Global Sustainable Business Challenge
A student team from Bangkok University secured first place at the 2026 Babson Collaborative Global Student Challenge with their project, Cassapure, which converts cassava peel into biochar for wastewater treatment. This initiative addresses the UN Sustainable Development Goals while providing affordable solutions for SMEs.

Bangkok University's team, Cassapure, won first place at the 2026 Babson Collaborative Global Student Challenge, which featured over 1,280 teams from 33 universities across 24 countries. Their project focuses on transforming cassava peel into biochar, serving as a low-cost and eco-friendly alternative for wastewater treatment in SMEs.
The biochar acts as an adsorbent, effectively removing contaminants while addressing agricultural waste disposal issues. This initiative supports several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including clean water and sanitation, and promotes circular economy principles. The project development involved market research and business model design, showcasing the university's commitment to experiential learning and innovation in entrepreneurship.
