Bangladesh Army Establishes Eco-Resort in Bandarban for Bom Community Development
The Bangladesh Army has launched an eco-resort in Sungsuwa Para, Bandarban, to promote socio-economic development for the indigenous Bom community, with an investment of approximately Tk 30 lakh. This initiative, implemented by the 16th Bengal Regiment, aims to create job opportunities, enhance tourist safety, and generate income to support local education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Brig Gen S M Raquib Ibne Rezwan highlighted the army's dedication to sustainable development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, following a period of displacement due to violence in the region.

The Bangladesh Army has inaugurated an eco-resort in Sungsuwa Para, located on the border of Thanchi and Ruma upazilas in Bandarban, aimed at socio-economic development for the indigenous Bom community. The initiative, which cost approximately Tk 30 lakh and was implemented by the 16th Bengal Regiment, provides employment opportunities for the community and enhances safety for tourists.
Brig Gen S M Raquib Ibne Rezwan, the chief guest at the inauguration, emphasized the army's commitment to public welfare and sustainable development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The income generated from the resort will support education, healthcare, infrastructure, and overall social welfare for local villagers. The local community had previously faced displacement due to violence from Kuki National Army militants but has since returned home following improved security.
