Bangladesh Enhances Cybersecurity and Local Innovation Initiatives
Bangladesh is focusing on strengthening its cyber capabilities and fostering local innovation to improve national security. The Defense Adviser's remarks underscore the urgency of converting research into practical technologies and patents.

Bangladesh's Defense Adviser, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, emphasized the need to enhance the country's cybersecurity and accelerate local innovation during a visit to the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).
He highlighted MIST's achievements, including winning the MATEROV International Underwater Robot Competition 2026 held in Canada, where it competed against 77 teams from 16 countries. The adviser noted that transforming research into patents and usable technologies is crucial for reducing foreign dependence and creating jobs. He also called for improved coordination among educational institutions, government, and the technology sector to foster skilled professionals in cybersecurity and address practical challenges in various sectors.
