Bangladesh Extends COMFLOT West Project Deadline to 2028, Cost Rises to Tk 1,316.62 Crore
The Bangladesh government has extended the deadline for the Mongla Commander Flotilla West (COMFLOT West) project to December 2028, while the cost has risen significantly from Tk 699.94 crore to Tk 1,316.62 crore. The project, aimed at enhancing maritime security in the Mongla region and implemented by the Bangladesh Navy, has faced delays and technical adjustments, with cumulative expenditures reaching Tk 382.28 crore as of June 2025. The initiative, fully funded by government resources, is under increased scrutiny regarding development spending.

The Bangladesh government has extended the Mongla Commander Flotilla West (COMFLOT West) project deadline by two years to December 2028, increasing the cost from Tk 699.94 crore to Tk 1,316.62 crore. Implemented by the Bangladesh Navy, the project aims to enhance maritime security in the Mongla region.
Delays and technical adjustments, including findings from soil tests, have led to the escalation in costs. As of June 2025, cumulative expenditure reached Tk 382.28 crore, with 54.61% financial progress and 54% physical progress recorded. The project is fully financed by government funds, heightening scrutiny on development spending.
