Bangladesh Signs Letter of Intent for Eurofighter Typhoon Jets and Drone Manufacturing Agreement with China
Bangladesh has signed a letter of intent with Leonardo SpA and the Italian government for the procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon jets, aimed at enhancing its defense capabilities. Additionally, a state-level agreement with China will facilitate drone manufacturing in the Mirsarai Economic Zone. Security Advisor Khalilur noted that these defense initiatives are part of ongoing efforts and addressed concerns regarding his recent appointment to the board of Biman Bangladesh Airlines amid Boeing discussions.

The Bangladesh Air Force signed a letter of intent on December 9 with Italian company Leonardo SpA and the Italian government for the procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon jets. This initiative is part of the interim government's ongoing process to strengthen defense capabilities under Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.
Additionally, a state-level agreement has been established with China to manufacture drones, with land allocated in the Mirsarai Economic Zone for the factory. Security Advisor Khalilur emphasized that these defense engagements are routine and continuous. He also addressed concerns regarding his recent appointment to the board of Biman Bangladesh Airlines amid discussions with Boeing over aircraft purchases.
